Decoda Chamber Music Festival 2021 Information

General information:

DCMF will take place on the campus of Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Tuition for the program will be $1950.
Room and Board costs are as follows:
$650 for single rooms or $468 for shared doubles
$358 for three meals a day on campus at the Lawrence University dining hall

  • A limited number of competitive, fully-funded fellowships are available. To apply for a fellowship, submit a personal statement detailing your chamber music experience, community engagement background, and any other information that you would like to share about yourself. We also require a letter of recommendation.

  • Limited need-based scholarships are also available. In order to apply for a scholarship, applicants will need to supply a letter of need as well as the first two pages of their (or their parents’) most recent tax return. Submit your scholarship materials by March 1, 2021 to DCMF@decodamusic.org

Application Requirements:

Applications are open to strings, winds, and piano, as well as pre-formed ensembles.
Submit videos of two contrasting works representing different time periods. If the selection is taken from a multi-movement work, applicants need only prepare one movement of the piece. Upload performances to YouTube and submit links in your application.
Application fee is $60
Answer the following questions in a video:
1. Describe a memorable moment of audience connection that you have experienced--either as a performer, educator, student, or audience member. What about that moment was special? How did it influence your perspective?
2. Please tell us why you are interested in participating in the Decoda Chamber Music Festival?

  1. Who will be on faculty at DCMF this summer?
    Faculty this summer will include clarinetist, Alicia Lee; pianist, Michael Mizrahi; bassist, Kris Saebo; flutist, Catherine Gregory; and violinist, Clara Lyon.
    Additional faculty members will be added soon! Keep checking back for more information.

  2. Where will performances be held?
    There are many opportunities to perform at DCMF! This summer, participants will perform on campus at Lawrence Memorial Chapel, as well as in several venues in the community of Appleton.

  3. When do I arrive and depart?
    Check in will be on Sunday July 25 between 1-4pm. Check out is by 11am on August 7.
