Decoda Chamber Music Festival 2026 Application

Applications are open to strings, winds, piano, and composer/performers. Preformed ensembles are also welcome. If you play another instrument not listed and you would like to apply, you are welcome to submit an application.

Application is $25 before February 1, 2026*.
*After February 1st, an application fee of $50 will be applied.

Application Process

Step 1: Submit live, unedited videos of two contrasting works representing different time periods. One selection can be chamber music. If a selection is taken from a multi-movement work, applicants need only prepare one movement of the piece. Upload performances to YouTube and submit links in your application.

Step 2: Please answer the following questions in a video (this can be an informal video created on your phone or tablet):
Introduce yourself briefly!

  1. How did you hear about DCMF?

  2. What does a life in music mean to you?

  3. Why are you interested in attending DCMF, and what do you hope to gain from this experience? 

  4. Share a meaningful musical experience you have been a part of? 

For Preformed Ensembles: What would you like to gain from your time working with Decoda? How can we best mentor your ensemble to help you achieve your dreams and goals? 

For Performer-Composers: How does composing enhance  your own artistry as a performer? 

Scholarships:

At DCMF, we believe that exceptional artistry and meaningful community work should be accessible to all musicians—regardless of financial circumstance. To support this commitment, we offer need-based scholarships. All applicants who request financial aid will be reviewed by a panel. Awards are determined based on demonstrated financial need, application materials, and available funds.

To be considered for a DCMF Scholarship, please submit:

  • Recent Tax Return: The first two pages of your most recent tax return (or a parent/guardian’s if you are a dependent).

  • Personal Statement: A brief statement describing your interest in the festival, your financial circumstances, and how a DCMF scholarship would support your artistic growth.
