Decoda is seeking passionate, thoughtful leaders to join our Board of Directors and help guide the organization into its next chapter of growth and impact.
As Carnegie Hall’s Affiliate Ensemble, Decoda is a collective of world-class artists dedicated to creating meaningful connections through music—bringing performances, residencies, and creative collaborations to concert halls, classrooms, and communities across the country.
Our Board plays a vital role in supporting this work—championing our mission, strengthening our network, and helping ensure a sustainable and vibrant future for the organization.
Who should join the board
Decoda welcomes corporate, civic, and cultural leaders who are inspired by the power of music to create connection and social impact, and who are eager to support the organization’s continued growth. We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in areas such as fundraising, marketing and communications, finance, law, and nonprofit leadership. Board members serve as ambassadors for Decoda within their networks and bring a spirit of collaboration, creativity, and thoughtful dialogue to their work.
Board Structure
The Decoda Board may include up to 15 members, including ex-officio artist representatives from within Decoda’s Core roster. Currently, the Board is comprised of 8 members (including 2 artists) representing a range of industries, including entertainment, finance, technology, education, and the non-profit sector. Board members serve three-year terms, with the opportunity for renewal, and may engage more deeply through committee work or by supporting specific initiatives aligned with their interests and expertise.
Commitment & Expectations
Board members are asked to:
Attend quarterly board meetings either in person or virtually
Actively engage in conversations around strategy, programming, and organizational growth
Serve as advocates for Decoda—helping to expand visibility, partnerships, and support
Contribute meaningfully to fundraising efforts, including making a personally meaningful annual gift and ssisting with donor introductions, events, or campaign outreach.
Board service is a volunteer, collaborative, and evolving role. We value members who are engaged, communicative, and excited to contribute in ways that align with their strengths.
